Houston, Texas, January 1, 2014 — East Houston Regional Medical Center and Dr. Christy Obukofe helped Houstonians Jessica Parga and Gerardo Sandoval welcome their baby girl, Delaila Sandoval, into the world at 12:02 a.m. on January 1, 2014. Baby Delaila is 6 lbs. and 10 oz. and is 18 and inches long. She was one of seven babies born on New Year’s Day at East Houston Regional Medical Center.

“I didn’t think I would be delivering Delaila on New Year’s Day,” said Jessica. “We are very excited that she is a New Year’s Day baby and we will celebrate her birthday every year with fireworks.”

“We are thrilled to have the first baby born at East Houston Regional Medical Center for 2014. Each year we help families welcome their children into the world,” said Alice Adams, Chief Executive Officer at East Houston Regional Medical Center. “It is wonderful to be the only community hospital dedicated to our resident’s needs. It is so exciting to be a part of these families’ lifetime memories.”

Alice Adams, CEO, and Brenda Martinez, Chief Nursing Officer, presented the family with a beautiful basket of goodies for baby and mom, a plant and balloons, as well as a door decoration announcing her arrival. Gifts also included diapers and formula.
