First Responders recognized at North Channel Banquet

CHANNELVIEW – The Channelview Ministry Team held their 3rd Annual First Responders Appreciation Dinner, last Saturday evening, Sept. 12 at the Barrett-Lee ECC Building on Sheldon Rd.

Participating in the ceremonies and awards were representatives from local fire and EMS departments.

Guest Speaker was Mr. Dale Jenkins, HFD. Also speaking was State Senator Sylvia Garcia. Welcoming remarks were by Greg Ollis, Superintendent of Channelview ISD.

Music was provided by the Channelview High School Choir & Band. The traditional Ringing of the Bell was by Asst. Chief James Wathen, of the Cloverleaf FD.

Recognition of the Departments was lead by Brenda Biggers and Jimmy Sumbera of Channelview FD. Students and Citizen Awards were by Pastors Joe Herrera and Kent Wilson. Announcements were made by Darcy Blackstock of CMT.

Participating ministers included Charlie Tutt, Father C. Shackelford, Esther Osborn, and Irvin Clark.
