Sylvester Turner was sworn in by Honorable Vanessa D. Gilmore, United States District Judge of the Southern District of Texas. Turner and daughter Ashley Turner hold the same bible he was sworn in with for his first term as a State Representative in 1988. After Turner took Oath he then swore in entire City Council. His 1st few months will be mostly spent establishing polices and reviewing City Departments. HIS PRIORITIES FIRST 4 YEAR TERM: FLOODING, POLICE & FIRE PROTECTION, CITY BUDGET and CITY’S PENSION RESPONSIBILITY TO EMPLOYEES WORKING TO BRING EMPLOYEES OF FIRE & POLICE DEPARTMENT S PENSION COMMITMENTS BY THE CITY INTO A AFFORDABLE AMOUNT FOR THE CITY & FIRE & POLICE PERSONNEL.

Harris County Pct. 1 Commissioner El Franco Lee died Sunday morning at 10 am from a heart attack, according to county authorities. Lee was 66 years old. He was pronounced dead at LBJ Hospital.
King Davis was named the new superintendent of Sheldon I.S.D. at the December 15, 2015 board meeting. He will succeed Interim Superintendent, John Kirchner.
Davis was chosen through a rigorous selection and interview process by the Sheldon Board of Trustees, and ultimately named the lone finalist during the November board meeting.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank the board again for their vote of confidence,” Davis said. “Now it’s official and I’m certainly ready to get to work and take Sheldon I.S.D. to the next level.”
Houston, Texas, January 1, 2016 – East Houston Regional Medical Center helped Romelia Trejo and Alberto Lugo welcome daughter, Emileth into the world at 6:08 am. Emileth weighs 8 lbs. 2 oz. and is 19 inches long. Trejo and Lugo are from Houston and this is their second daughter. Big sister Adalyn can’t wait to meet her new baby sister.
“We are very excited that she is a New Year’s baby,” said mother Romelia Trejo.
