LyondellBasell to mobilize hundreds of volunteers for Global Care Day, Sept. 21

Volunteers from numerous LyondellBasell locations in the Greater Houston area will take part in this year’s Global Care Day, a community service program. Staff from LyondellBasell’s more than 100 sites or locations around the world will donate their time, effort and energy to support sustainability projects in the areas where they live and work.

LyondelBasell’s Global Day Care will be Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 in Houston from 8 a.m. – noon. Locations include:

• Bayport Complex, Armand Bayou Nature Center – 8500 Bay Area Blvd.
Projects: Replace trail fencing, refurbish dip netting pond and set up nature library
Number of volunteers: 80

• City of Shoreacres – Shell Beach and Miramar Beach
Projects: Beach cleanup and removal of invasive vegetation to allow visitors to enjoy the beach area
Number of volunteers: 10

• Channelview Complex Adopt-A-Road – 8280 Sheldon Road, Houston, TX 77049
Projects: Cleanup along Sheldon Road in front of Channelview Complex
Number of volunteers: 20

• Rio Villa Neighborhood – 19610 Rio Villa Dr., Houston, TX 77049
Projects: Neighborhood cleanup, refurbishment of entrance signs and adding landscaping and lighting to the main entrance
Number of volunteers: 60

• Thomas Bell Foster Park – 12895 Greens Bayou St., Houston, TX 77015
Projects: Cleanup and continued restoration of the park
Number of volunteers: 100

• Houston Engineering Center North Shore Senior High School – 353 Castlegory Dr., Houston 77049
Projects: Create outdoor learning center, outdoor garden space and outdoor lunch area
Number of volunteers: 200

• Houston Technology Center Sheldon Lake State Park – 14140 Garrett Rd., Houston 77044
Projects: Cleaning up trash from Sheldon Lake and the surrounding park area to ensure the public can enjoy the outdoor space
Number of volunteers: 50

• Houston Refinery Richey Elementary – 610 S. Richey St. Pasadena 77506
Projects: Facelift to playground area, planting trees and flowers, building benches and picnic tables
Number of volunteers: 150

• LyondellBasell Tower, Hermann Park – 6104 Hermann Park Dr. Houston 77030
Projects: Planting, landscaping and painting
Number of volunteers: 300
