JACINTO CITY – A stolen pick-up truck, being pursued by police, exited I-10 at the Mercury ramp and ran a red light, hitting a Galena Park ISD school bus headed south on Mercury Drive last Tuesday at about 11:00 am.

A HPD police officer said they were in hot pursuit of the stolen red pickup on the 10 East Freeway going eastbound, and the suspect was dangerously weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.

He reportedly stole the truck, which had the engine running, from a home mover on Spaulding Street. He drove around the neighborhood for several hours before police started the chase.

The suspect was allegedly a 15 year old high school student, according to authorities. He was taken to the emergency room and is currently listed in critical condition. No one else was in the red truck.

Two GPISD female employees were injured and taken to the emergency room for head injuries and neck injuries and listed as non-critical.
