Mustangs set scoring record, defeat Atascocita 76-49, advance to semifinals in rematch

Saturday, December 7, 2019 — In the Texas high school football Regional Finals played between the North Shore Mustangs, Galena Park ISD and the Atascocita Eagles, Humble ISD on a neutral field at Sheldon ISD Panther Stadium, the Mustangs won 76 – 49. They played before a sell-out crowd of 10,000.

North Shore’s offense was explosive, racking up 804 yards, scoring 10 touchdowns (TD’s), kicker John Villalobos made all 10 extra point kicks plus 2 field goals of 38 and 24 yards. Mustang Quarterback Dematrius Davis ran for 293 yards and 3 TD’s, passed for 312 yards and 2 TD’s. Zach Evans, the nation’s top running back ran for 169 yards and 4 TD’s and caught a 75 yard TD pass from Davis, Evans had 104 pass receiving yards. Coach Jon Kay said the whole team feeds off of Davis’ and Evans’ playing.

Jacinto City Christmas Tree Lighting

Mayor Ana Diaz lit the Christmas Tree in the courtyard, as Chris Diaz, Joyce Raines, and Kathy Greiner helped organize the event.

Jacinto City held its annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting last Saturday. Hundreds turned out for the event, held in beautiful weather.

The parade was large, with 40 units displayed. Town Center had music, food, and Santa.

4th Annual Toy Drive

The 4th Annual Community Toy Drive was held on Saturday, with the collection point being the parking lot between Panera and WalMart. The drive is a joint effort of the Channelview and Cloverleaf fire departments, with the help of volunteers from the Channelview Ministry Team, and students from nearby schools.

Sponsors include Arkema, Caterpillar, Solar Turbines, LyondellBasell, and others. The toys will be distributed by the Ministry Team to about 200 needy families next week.

Jacinto City Christmas Parade entertains crowds

SANTA CLAUS WAS RIDING IN THE PARADE ON A SHINY FIRE TRUCK FROM THE JACINTO CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT. HIS APPEARANCE IS ALWAYS A HIGHLIGHT TO THE MANY CHILDREN THAT LINE THE PARADE ROUTE.
SEVERAL MARCHING UNITS PARTICIPATED IN THE PARADE, INCLUDING THE JACKETEERS FROM GALENA PARK HIGH SCHOOL. LORI’S DANCE STUDIO WAS JUDGED THE BAST MARCHING/WALKING GROUP.
MANY DECORATED FLOATS WERE IN THE PARADE, WITH EITHER A HOLIDAY THEME OR A RELIGIOUS THEME. CHILDREN FROM LOCAL SCHOOLS RODE ALONG AND WAVED TO THE VIEWERS ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE.
