Community members concerned about new “Permitless Carry” law

Commissioner Garcia moderates discussion with law enforcement

Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia led a discussion last Wednesday, September 1 on the concerns surrounding the new law. The panel consisted of law enforcement officials and domestic violence advocates, among others.

Law enforcement officials want people to make sure they understand the law before doing anything that could put themselves or others in danger.

“Make sure that you understand the law and make sure you get trained to use that weapon,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Toquica said.

“With permit-less carry officially going into effect September 1, the state’s record shows loosening weapon restrictions only make living in Texas more dangerous.”

September 3, 2021 — Spring, TX — The North Shore Mustangs traveled to the Klein ISD Memorial Stadium to take on the Klein Collins Tigers. Early in the game it was obvious the Mustangs’ defense would once again destroy another 6A offensive unit. Before the half, the East Side Boys led 24 – 7; at game’s end, the rout was 34 -7.

HARRIS COUNTY: $30 Million Relief funding for Small Businesses recovering from Pandemic

Harris County has created a new $30 Million Small Business Relief Fund to support micro and small businesses recovering from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The application window will open Monday, September 20 at 9:30AM and close Monday, October 4 at 5:30PM Central Standard Time. The application process is not first-come, first-served; all completed applications will be reviewed for eligibility and prioritized based on small business impact parameters.
