NORTH CHANNEL – The Chamber Gala was the setting for the announcement, from new board chairman Greg Ollis, that Margie Buentello had been selected as the permanent President and CEO of the North Channel Chamber.
When Margie was named as interim President/CEO in September, upon the retirement of Dr. Charles Grant, then chair Wilfred Broussard, Jr. commented, “Her enthusiasm, dedication and knowledge of the Chamber’s day to day operations will serve her well in this new position.”
Margie has been working for the Chamber for 17 years, most recently as the Membership Assistant. In this role, she has provided assistance and guidance to chamber members and activities. In this role, she has had the opportunity to know each of the Chamber’s members first hand.
Margie is a product of North Channel, having graduated from Furr High School, and attended San Jacinto College North. She is currently studying at the Institute for Organization Management to enhance her leadership and management skills.
Margie has three children who grew up in North Channel. She has worked for Prudential Southwestern Marketing, and Galena Park ISD.
She is active with community organizations, having served as president of the San Jacinto Pilot Club in 2001-2002, and been a member since 1997. Currently she is a member of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce Executives, and CAPLE (the Community Advisory Panel to Lyondell Equistar).
She has also served with the YMCA, Relay for Life, Green Valley Elementary PTA, and North Shore Little League.
According to chairman Greg Ollis, the Chamber is in good hands with Margie Buentello as the new leader.
