Man captured, wanted for murder of woman floating in SJ River

CHANNELVIEW – A man wanted in the murder of a woman found in the San Jacinto River in April of 2019, led deputies on a pursuit after they tried to conduct a traffic stop on his vehicle.

Deputies and Homicide investigators were in the 3500 block of the N. Sam Houston Parkway W when 32-year-old Christopher Tate fled and crashed his vehicle after a small pursuit. Tate then ran to a nearby Holiday Inn under construction.

Deputies evacuated workers from the building and set a perimeter around the building. The SWAT team was deployed to the site and a methodical search of the building was conducted.

Tate was located after a few hours hiding in the building.

On Monday, April 15, 2019, at around 5:00 p.m. District 3 deputies responded to 17407 River Rd, in reference to a body in the San Jacinto River.

When deputies arrived on the scene, a witness directed them to the west river bank, adjacent to a vacant lot.

There they found the body of a female now identified as Tera Rose Hoseck, 32, floating in the water.

The victim appeared to have been in the water for several hours and suffered multiple injuries to her face and body.

The Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit recovered Ms. Hoseck’s body. Homicide investigators responded to the scene and investigated the death.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences responded to the scene and transported the body to their office for an autopsy. The manner of death was multiple stabs wounds to the body.

Investigators have now charged Tate with murder.

The motive for the murder of Tera Rose Hoseck is still under investigation.
