Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Galena Park Alvin Baggett Community Center park pavilion, Team Sylvia of Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia’s office and Galena Park Mayor Moya’s Team organized and distributed over a two day period to thousands of area residents both food and water. Since both the COVID-19 virus pandemic and the recent historical Texas winter storm, organizers said its one of the city’s largest request for emergency food and water.

Mayor Esmeralda Moya said, “The Bible tells us that there is a time and place for everything under the heavens. At this moment in Galena Park’s history, it is the time for us to act and help all of our brothers and sisters in need. Thank you to Congresswoman Sylvia García, her exceptional staff, to all city employees and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.”

Galena Park’s Fire Chief Tom Ehlers was there giving a helping hand and overseeing safety measures. Police officers and public works personnel kept the traffic flowing smoothly and safely.
